UVL has delivered a high-capacity ultraviolet water disinfection system, model UVL-AQUA 30-700, to a major industrial site in the chemical sector. The objective was to ensure safe and effective UV treatment of stormwater before environmental discharge, in full compliance with ecological and sanitary standards.
The project included building a rainwater treatment station and integrating it into the facility’s engineering systems. A chemical-free solution was required to achieve reliable microbial reduction in the effluent stream.
Operating Parameters
- Medium: treated stormwater
- Flow rate: 150 to 750 m³/h per unit, up to 1500 m³/h with dual-unit operation
- Water temperature: +1 to +30 °C
- Pressure: up to 1.6 MPa
- Suspended solids: up to 5 mg/L
- Microbiological requirement: ≤1000 CFU/L
Tailored Engineering Solution
After detailed analysis, the UVL-AQUA 30-700 system was selected. It is engineered specifically for industrial disinfection and designed to maintain high performance even in the presence of oil residues and elevated turbidity levels. A dual-unit setup allows treatment of up to 1500 m³/h.
Technical Specifications
- Lamp type: Ozone-free amalgam UV lamps (30 total)
- Power range per lamp: 212 to 615 W
- Total UV output: up to 6450 W
- UV intensity: 1300 mW/cm²
- Lamp lifespan: up to 14,000 hours
- Housing: AISI 304 stainless steel
- Operating pressure: up to 1.6 MPa
The unit features an advanced control cabinet with integrated UV sensors, remote monitoring capabilities, and an automated operating-hours tracker. A UV intensity control system ensures consistent disinfection performance, even under variable flow conditions.
System Components and Production
Standard supply included:
- UV disinfection chamber and control panel
- Full set of germicidal lamps
- Quartz sleeves
- Maintenance toolkit and CIP unit
- Technical documentation and specifications
Manufacturing took approximately 90–110 business days. The client also received project-ready documentation including drawings and performance passports.
Future Expansion
The project design includes three modules of UVL-AQUA 30-700: two operational and one backup unit. With the successful delivery of the first module, further collaboration on additional phases is already under discussion.
Conclusion
The implementation of UV disinfection technology at a strategic industrial facility highlights the effectiveness of ultraviolet treatment for complex wastewater environments. This system delivers:
- Reliable inactivation of pathogens
- Continuous performance under high flow conditions
- Full compliance with environmental and hygiene standards
